Veteran actor Bongani Gumede is reportedly preparing to take legal action against retail giant Pick n Pay following an alleged accident at one of the company’s stores.
The actor, who currently appears on eTV’s Scandal! and is widely recognised for his role on Isibaya, is said to be seeking R1 million in damages after sustaining injuries during the incident.
According to reports that surfaced on social media on Sunday, 14 December 2025, Gumede claims he was hurt after tripping over an unmarked trolley at Pick n Pay’s Steeledale branch. He alleges that the accident resulted in injuries serious enough to disrupt his professional life.
As a result, the actor is reportedly demanding compensation for pain and suffering, emotional distress, medical costs and loss of income. It is further claimed that the injury has prevented him from attending auditions, placing him under significant financial strain.
News of the impending lawsuit has since sparked mixed reactions online, with South Africans divided on whether the retailer should be held responsible for the alleged incident.
